Usukani D4 Build

Just a quick few shots of my most recent build.
I am building this for my wife as she's been using my FRD recently and wanted to have her own car.
The setup mostly uses Usukani parts (decks, bulkheads, arms, knuckles, etc) at the exception of the rear arms and knuckles, as well as the steering. I ended up getting a few knock off parts, even though I hate buying copies, but some parts didn't have to be genuine. These include the suspension mount parts, the motor mount plate, and the CVDs. Also the dampers are Topline Neo dampers with Kazama TRF adjustable caps.
I opted for a Tailslider rack I had from my D-Like RER Hybrid.
Re-drilled the deck, make a belcrank out of a wrap-up next hybrid steering arm.
Still debating if I should go with a top weight shift setup or just rear weight shift for more traction rather than roll.
I tried the whole Bagi setup in the rear but I found it cumbersome and adding friction to an already smooth motion.

I am bound to run Acuvance systems, but since this is not for me, I'll be slapping a Sanwa Vortex Type D for the ESC as my wife will run a Sanwa MT-S radio and the Sanwa Drift Gyro. Making it all SSL will be easier to play with.

Fellow teammate Matt's work of art, with a Sakai-san inspiration for this build. Its hard to tandem with this, feel bad if I make contact.

Traxxas buying HPI??

Anybody got any thoughts on this?

http://www.liverc.com/news/announcements...Racing%3F/

Traxxas buying up HPI Europe, which is mainly defunct since Hobbico bought HPI USA.

Hobbico = Tower Hobbies + Great Planes USA

Hobbico already owns Revell Germany so they've already got their European distribution base, no need for HPI Europe.

How's availability of HPI stuff at your LHS especially outside of USA?

Considering a new Yokomo and the new YD4 looks promising. Only concern is what to do to convert to RWD? Anyone convert one yet?

Hey!

I've had one Xray T3 2012 roller laying here for a while and I decided to make a drifter out of it. Anyone has built a drifter on that platform? Any suggestions for steering? I'm planning to run it 50:50 first with two spool diffs just for fun outdoor bashing/drifting  =o

Hello from The Netherlands!

Hi I'm Moovio_RC, a rookie RC drifter from The Netherlands.

My first RC project is still not finished: I started building a Tamiya CC01 Unimog 406. As it's almost ready, I was looking around for something more, let's say, aggressive and customisable.

For now, I like building and attention to detail more than actual driving, so I opted for a Tamiya TT01D type E with Toyota GT86 body. Nice to get a feel for this type of cars. Some friend advised me to choose a Yokomo next time, seems to be a wise remark ;-)

I am very strict with myself: first the Unimog needs to be finished before I can start the Toyota. In the meantime all the parts are coming in and Drift Mission is a good place for tips, tricks and inspiration!

Thanks a lot for sharing your info and pictures, so I can learn.

C Ya,
Moovio_RC

New to Drift in Minnesota

Not New to R/C, Used to race back in the 80's and 90's in San Diego then took a long absence. Got back into R/C about 5 years ago with Helicopters, then decided the breakage was no fun their, so I went for the more technical and thinking as you drive of Rock Crawling which has led me to add trying to Drift to the Technical side of R/C Driving. Looking to scour these forums for knowledge to help me improve my cars and my driving. ;)

The vehicle that I picked-up is the 69 Camaro SS Brushless from Vaterra, which I tore down the first night of owning and locked the rear diff. and ordered the adjustable camber uppers and their adjustable aluminum coil overs.

Look what I found! The best RC license plates available.

This week I purchased custom license plates from a great guy called Victor in Austria. He makes them from real aluminium, completely custom and according to the real specifications of any country in the world.

I wanted an historic Dutch set for my Unimog and a scale reproduction of a Swaziland plate I brought home as a souvenir. He even makes the MOT/Tax stickers for me and printed frames. The coating is reflectve, same as 1:1 plates on cars.

Noob Setup

So I have my first drift car setup boiled down. After some extensive research here and around the net I have decided on the following as my first stab at rc drifting.
Sakura d4 AWD with the 3Racing Toyota 86 body+Greddy parts,
Hacktronic ESC and motor,
FEETECH Low Profile 0.07sec/60degree 9.2kg.cm HV Digital Servo,
3Racing Aluminum One Way Tube,
Raikou DP70 and S45 tires to try out on pavement,
ob1 RC Drift LED Light Kit System,
Boom Racing Aluminum Front Knuckles for Sakura D4 ,
Boom Racing Adjustable Steering Assembly for Sakura D4,
Plus a body mount and a few things for scaling out the body a bit.
I opted for a Fly Sky FS-iT4 tx and I am thinking of two NanoTech 5400mah 60-100C to start off as I can get two for the price of one Graphene pack.
Thought, suggestions anyone?
