Hey All,
New to this R/C Drifting scene, and I jumped in feet first with a 3Racing D4 RWD kit using a Kenitics 4000KV Brushless Motor/ Esc Combo from Horizon with a Onisiki Gyro.
Also purchased a 3Racing D3 AWD Roller and using a Orion dDrive Brushless motor to assist in my learning curve of Drift and what each style of car is capable of doing.
A little about myself, Growing up my parents never allowed me to have a decent R/C, Then after getting married and enlisting in the NAVYin 1988, I was finally able to afford to get
my first R/C, A Tamiya Grasshopper, which was veryquickly followed by a Tamiya Blackfoot. I then got stationed in San Diego the fall off 88 where I soon discoved R/C racing. My next purchase
was a BoLink Eliminator Pan Car Chassis and racing on a outdoor paved R/C Road Track. I started at the end of the decline in Pan Car Racing at that point in time. To then discover the dirt off road
racing. The RC10 buggy didn't do much for me, but the RC10T had me hooked, so after a year of not racing do to being out to sea and becoming a new father I was able to finally get that new 10T.
First year was stock and not competitive, 2nd year was better results better parts, 3rd year I was all in with a carbon fiber chassis and all of the expensive titanium parts and matched cell battery packs,
com lathe and brush cutter. Was having a ball of a time spending money like it was going out of style, New tires every race day, New motor every other week stacks of brushes and batteries, and 2 packs of cigs every race day, Man was it fun (NOT) Rage sold eveything one weekend for 200.00 in 1994/5. Took a very long break till around 2007 when I got back into R/C with a Helicopter since that wouldn't
lead to competition. Nope it sure didn't, but as Heli's got bigger so did the repair bill up till I had a misfortune with one and I had a very close call with a carbon fiber blade, and one of our pets didn't fair well at all.
I know this is getting long, but almost to Me and Drifting. I then managed to find myself now employed as a R/C Specialist at my LHS and managed to hit my head on some rocks and get deeply involved in Rock Crawling and back into Competition. But due to that I was able to grew my LHS Crawling section of RC vastly and able to now make store purchasing decisions. Several of my crawling buddies are also into Drifting, and my LHS didn't have anything other than the HPI sprints and the Vaterra Touring cars. So I have taken on the task of trying to expand my understanding of r/c drift and also to increase the stores selection of vehicles. So I was able to bring in a 3Racing account and also Yeah Racing into my LHS.
