MST Adjustable Servo Saver

Hoping to get some insight on the MST 8 way adj. servo arm with soft medium and hard rings it came with. Please explain details of the adjustments of the rings. My guess is that the 8 way, adjusts the servo "throw" just not sure on the rings.
